Zita Carneiro

Zita (Medeiros) Carneiro, 76, of Westport, MA, died Monday at the Catholic Memorial Home. She was the wife of Paulo Carneiro. She was born in St. Michael, Azores, a daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (Miranda) de Medeiros.

Mrs. Carneiro had worked as a seamstress for many years in the local garment industry. She enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening and fashion designing, but most especially, enjoyed Sunday dinners with her family. She was devoted to her family and friends.

Besides her husband, she is survived by 4 daughters, Laiz Daigle (Husband Rick) of Fall River, MA, Lillian Sunderland (Husband Ethan) of Griswold, CT, Laurie Travers (Deceased Husband Bob) of Dartmouth, MA and Lynne Souza (Husband Bill) of Portsmouth, RI; 2 sons, Paul Carneiro, Jr. of Westport, MA and Patrick Carneiro (Wife Tammy) of Swansea, MA; 3 sisters, Liduina Noverca of Fall River, MA, Emerald Jackson of Alabama, Olympia "Lee" Thomas-Boucher of Florida; a brother, Diniz de Medeiros of Fall River, MA; 9 grandchildren, Ian (Wife Kate), Adam (Fiance Nancy) Hannah, Haley and Hilary, Bryan and Andrew, Julie and Jessica; a great-grandson, Caydon. She was the sister of the late Vic de Medeiros.

Her funeral will be held Friday at 8:45 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 215 Columbia St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery.
