Vasco V. Araujo

Vasco V. Araujo, 79, of Fall River, died Thursday at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Maria Norbina (Oilveira-Aguiar) Araujo.
Born in Capelas, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Joao Viveiros Araujo and Maria Encarnacao (Correia) Araujo; he lived in this country since 1978. Mr. Araujo worked as a stocker at the former Quaker Fabric and as a welder at Derecktor Shipyard in Newport. He enjoyed fishing and yard work.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Lucy Gomes of New Bedford, Louise Rainha of Westport, Margaret Araujo and Paula Araujo, both of Fall River; three sons, Joao Araujo, Tony Araujo and Jeffrey Araujo, all of Fall River; a brother, Raul Araujo of St. Michael, Azores; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Wednesday at 8 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia Street, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Santo Christo Church. Cremation to follow. Calling hours Tuesday 5-8 p.m.
