Valentina (Raposo) Barbosa

Valentina (Raposo) Barbosa, 97, of Fall River, passed away December 13, 2023 at AdviniaCare Southpointe, in Fall River.

She was the widow of the late Joaquim M. Barbosa, Jr.

Born in Lomba da Fazenda, Nordeste, São Miguel, Açores, she was a daughter of the late José Jacinto Raposo and Maria da Costa (Branco) Raposo.

Prior to retiring, Valentina worked for most of her career as a seamstress in the local textile industry. She was a faithful parishioner of Santo Christo Church and member of the Santo Christo Holy Rosary Society. She also enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting, and, most of all, spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children Antero Barbosa (wife Esmenia) and Judith Vidinha (husband José); her daughter-in-law Margarida Barbosa; her sisters Rosalina Cabral and Armenia Medeiros; her grandchildren Susie, Sandra, Brian, David, Jessica, and Ashley; her great-grandchildren Owen, Tate, and Nicholas; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her children Daniel Barbosa and Maria Alice Barbosa, and by her siblings Daniel Raposo, Manuel Raposo, and Maria Hortence Oliveira.

Her funeral will be held Saturday, December 16, at 8 AM from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM at Santo Christo Parish, Columbia St., Fall River. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be held Friday evening from 4 to 7 PM.
