Sarah (Brilhante) Avilla

FALL RIVER… Sarah (Brilhante) Avilla, 98, of Fall River passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 12, 2015.
She was the widow of Joseph Avilla. She was born in Fall River a daughter of the late Manuel and Innocencia (Cabral) Brilhante and had been a lifelong resident of this city.
Mrs. Avilla was a seamstress at the former Jodi Sue Manufacturing. She was an avid Pawtucket Pawsox fan. Survivors include her beloved cat Trixie, a son Robert Avilla and his wife Judith, several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Serafim Brilhante, Antone Brilhante, Manuel Brilhante, Joseph Brilhante, Mary Brilhante, and Irondina Terceira.
Her celebration of life will be held Friday at 9AM from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 2064 South Main Street, Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM at St. Michael's Church, Essex St., Fall River. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday 6 - 8 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Animal Rescue League of Fall River, dba Sylvan Animal Clinic, 474 Durfee St., Fall River, MA 02720 for the Trixie Fund.
