Rosalie Moura

Rosalie (Lewis) Roderick Moura, 96, formerly of Alicia Circle, Tiverton, died Wednesday at Warren Skilled Nursing Center. She was the wife of the late James Moura and the former wife of the late Joseph Roderick.

Born in Mattapoisett, MA, she was a daughter of the late John and Captolena (Arruda) Lewis; she lived in Tiverton for the past 15 years; previously living in Florida and Fall River.

Mrs. Moura worked as a machine operator for the former Bradley Scott and also as a cafeteria worker for the public schools lunch program well into her 80's.

Mrs. Moura was a communicant of St. Theresa's Church and a member of its ladies guild. She sang in the glee club. She loved animals, especially her little dog Buffy and her birds.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Mary Roderick of Westport; 2 granddaughters, Deborah J. Roderick and Lori A. Roderick-Hadfield, both of New Bedford; 3 great grandsons, Rory D. Hadfield, Brendan S. Hadfield and Ian J. Nunes; a sister, Elinor Gay of Westport; and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Raymond J. Roderick and the sister of the late Mary Candeias, John Lewis, Marion Lewis and Alfred Lewis.

Her funeral will be held Monday at 8:45 from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Theresa Church. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Sunday 6 - 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to National Ataxia Foundation, 2600 Fernbrook Ln., Suite 119, Minneapolis, MN 55447. Please include the following statement with your donation: "This donation is restricted to research towards finding a treatment or cure for SCA3 or Machado-Joseph Disease."
