Regina (Pires) Silva, 92, of Fall River, a retired garment worker, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 21st. She was the wife of the late Joao G. Silva.
Born in Fenais da Luz, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Manuel Rego Pires and Maria de Jesus (Rego) Pires; she lived in Fall River since 1966 and was a member of Santo Christo Church and its Holy Rosary Sodality. Mrs. Silva worked as a sewing machine operator for many years in the local garment industry, retiring in 1984.
She is survived by two daughters, Regina Oliveira of Fall River and Maria Tavares (husband Carlos) of Somerset, MA; a sister, Francelina Duarte of Fall River; four grandchildren, Crystal Silva (husband Dilson), Jessica Schimmel (husband Brendan), Pamela Tavares and Joshua Tavares (wife Natasha); five great-grandchildren; Madison, Cadence, David, Owen and Cora; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late John, Manuel, Artur, Jose and Antonio Pires and Maria da Luz Carreiro; the grandmother of the late David Oliveira
The family would like to thank Steward Hospice for the exceptional care given to Regina and Cindy and Alda for all their help with mom.
Her funeral will be held Monday at 8 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 215 Columbia St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Santo Christo Church. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Sunday 5-8 p.m.
