Peter S. Dopart, 93, of Fall River, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022 at St. Luke’s Hospital, in New Bedford.
He was the loving husband of Delores Dopart, his “sweetheart” of more than seven decades.
Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Piotr and Valerya Dopart.
A WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy, Pete had a long career at Fall River Gas Company, first as a welder and later as a supervisor, retiring in 1993. Pete was a hard worker and enjoyed cooking for large groups of people, especially for feasts at the local churches and clubs in Fall River. He was a member of the V.F.W. Woodrow L. Silvia Post 5392 in Tiverton; the Montaup Country Club in Portsmouth; and the Liberal Club and the Lodge of Elks, both in Fall River.
When Pete wasn’t cooking for large groups of people, he was cooking large amounts of foods for his family and friends on a wood stove in his garage — affectionately called “Pete’s Café” — and tending to his garden.
Along with his wife, survivors include his son Kevin Peter Dopart and daughter-in-law Deborah Hensley, his granddaughters Alethea Dopart and Celena Dopart (and her husband Mike Kelly), his sister Irene Moniz, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 11 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services are private.
