Myra Alice (Pacheco) Mello, 68, of Woodman Street, died peacefully at home, on April 12, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Richard Mello of almost 49 years and the mother of Carl R. Mello, her pride and joy, age 39 of Allston. She also leaves two brothers, Alan Pacheco (wife Zetty) of Fall River and Roy Pacheco (wife Jeanne) of East Sandwich, MA.
Her relationship with her nieces and nephews, Michael, Debbie, Jason and Taylor were also very special to her. Her sister-in-law Pat and brother-in-law Johnny of Warren, RI were very close to her as well.
Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Manuel and Beatrice (Angelini) Pacheco, she was a lifelong resident of this city and completed her education at B.M.C. Durfee High School and ended her work career as an office assistant with Dr. Speri, Podiatrist.
Myra was truly adored by all who knew her. She was the happiest when family and friends gathered and she was eager to share her views on the many restaurants she and Richie frequented. Her vacations to Alaska, Bermuda, Portugal and Florida and her cross country trip with her best friends Mary and Tommy were most memorable. Myra was always up for an adventure. Her four-year battle with cancer was met with courage and optimism, despite her many challenges. She was so grateful for the support of her Ovarian Divas, Myra not only reached out to all of her girls, but they provided amazing support to her too. She will be missed by all.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Oliveira Funeral Home 2064 South Main Street. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Visitation prior to service 8 - 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (Rhode Island Chapter) P.O. Box 20381, Cranston, RI. 02920.
