Mary "Mary Rap" Raposa, 98, formerly of Hudson St. Tiverton, died Thursday at Southpointe Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late John "Vooie" Raposa.
Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Antone and Maria (Sousa) Mottas, she resided most of her life in Tiverton.
Mrs. Raposa worked as a spool tender for the former Kerr Mill and also as an inspector for the former Joan Fabrics, retiring in 1977.
She was a member of St. Theresa Church and member of its Women's Guild.
She is survived by two daughters, Del Arruda of Tiverton, RI and Eileen Leggett of Midland, TX; a brother, Arthur Mottas of Florida; 5 grandchildren; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; several god-children and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Deolinda Santos, Joseph Mottas, John Mottas and Manuel Mottas.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 South Street, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church. Interment in Pocasset Hill Cemetery. Calling hours Monday 5 - 9 p.m.
