Mary V. Motta

Mary V. (Correia) Motta, 96, of Fall River, died Monday at home. She was the wife of the late Mariano M. Motta.

Born in Tiverton, RI, she was a daughter of the late Manuel and Mariana (Pacheco) Correia; she lived most of her life in Assonet and was a member of St. Bernard Church.

Mrs. Motta, along with her late husband; owned Bay Kennel for 20 years where they would raise and train greyhounds. She also worked in the garment industry for 20 years.

She is survived by a son-in-law, Jean O. Audet of Swansea; three grandchildren, Michael Audet, Christine Audet-Kelly and Stephen Audet; a great-grandson, Nathaniel Audet-Frazer; and several nieces. She was the mother of the late Geraldine E. Audet and sister of the late Georgiana Tavares, Cynthia Furtado, Antone Correia, Manuel Correia and Joseph Correia.

Her funeral will be held Friday at 8:45 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 2064 South Main St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Bernard Church, Assonet. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Visitation prior to mass 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Southcoast VNA, 200 Mill Rd. # 120, Fairhaven, MA.
