Mary L. Martin

Mary L. (Souza) Martin, 95, of Southpointe Rehabilitation & Nursing Care Center, formerly of Slade Street, passed away Saturday at the center. She was the wife of the late Antone Martin.

Born in Arrifes, St. Michael, Azores, a daughter of the late Jose and Valdemira (Borges) Souza; she resided in Fall River for most of her life.

Mrs. Martin worked at the former Schneierson Manufacturing Company for 23 years, later for the former Fall River Knitting in the salesroom for 25 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of the former Our Lady of Angels Church, now the Good Shepherd Parish and its Holy Rosary Sodality and the Council of Catholic Women.

The Martin Family would like to thank the staff at Southpointe Rehabilitation and also Gentiva Hospice for the care they provided to Mary.

She is survived by two sons, Anthony J. Martin (Wife Jean) of Tiverton and Keith E. Martin (Wife Dottie L.) of Fall River; 6 grandchildren, Tony "Duke", Shawn, Keith, Jr., Taylor, Renee and Rana; 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late John Souza, Edward Souza and Joseph Souza.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 8 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 South Main St. followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Good Shepherd Parish. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Tuesday 5 - 8 p.m.
