Mariana da Ponte Bettencourt

Marianna da Ponte (Cunha) Bettencourt, 99, of New Bedford, formerly of Fall River, died Wednesday. She was the wife of the late Jose da Cunha Bettencourt.

Born in Furnas, St. Michael, Azores; a daughter of the late Manuel da Ponte and Rosarinha (da Silva) Vidal.

Mrs. Bettencourt worked as a sewing machine operator for the local garment industry.

She is survived by a daughter, Julia da Ponte of Toronto, Ontario; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Jose Cunha.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Santo Christo Church. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Visitation morning of funeral from 8 - 9:30 a.m.
