Maria Lidia (De Matos) Xavier, 82, of 4901 North Main St., formerly of Harrison St. Fall River, passed away Tuesday at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Francisco R. Xavier.

Born in Faja de Baixo, St. Michael, Azores, a daughter of the late Antonio De Matos, Jr. and Maria Deolinda Vaz Marques, she resided in Fall River for the past 36 years.

Mrs. Xavier worked as a floor lady for the former Fall River Knitting for many years.

She is survived by 3 sons, Francisco C. "Frank" Xavier of Fall River, MA; Luke Xavier of Wilmington, OH and Domingo Xavier (Wife Fatima) of Fall River, MA; a sister, Leonilde Pereira of Fall River; 4 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and great nephews. She was the mother-in-law of the late Suzie Xavier.

Her funeral will be held on Friday at 9:30 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home 215 Columbia St. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Espirito Santo Church. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Visitation morning of funeral 8 - 10 a.m.
