Maria N. (Pires) Piques

Maria N. (Pires) Piques, 89, of Fall River, died Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at St. Anne's Hospital, in Fall River.

She was the widow of the late Jose P. Piques.

Born in Lagoa, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Antonio C. Pires and Maria do Carmo (Pavao) Pires.

Prior to retiring, Maria was employed as a seamstress at the former Woodland Mfg., in Fall River, and was a member of Good Shepherd Parish. Maria loved her family and loved entertaining them by hosting many holidays and dinners at her house.

She is survived by three daughters, Delia Fezette (husband William) of Tiverton, RI, Lynn Bercier (husband Jean-Paul, Jr.) of Westport, MA and Sandy Pavao of Fall River; one sister, Maria Connie Arruda, of Fall River; five grandchildren, Bobby and Eric Brasil, Jean-Paul Bercier III, Ashley Pavao and Kady Silva; five great-grandchildren, Ryan, Leah, Cali, Jeremy, and Lilliana, and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Francisco Pires.

Her visitation will be held Friday, September 9, 2022, from 8-9:30 AM from the Oliveira Funeral Home – South Main St. Chapel, 2064 South Main St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM at Good Shepherd Parish.  Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
