Maria Pereira

Maria (Mota) Pereira, 89, of Highlander Rehabilitation & Nursing Care Center, 1748 Highland Ave., formerly of Mott St., passed away Monday at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Manuel R. Pereira.

Born in Pedreira, St. Michael, Azores; she was a daughter of the late Joao and Angelina (Borges) Mota, she resided in Fall River for the past 47 years. Mrs. Pereira was a homemaker and a member of the former Our Lady of Angel's Church, now Good Shepherd Parish.

She is survived by a daughter, Zelia Rego of Westport; four sons, Humberto Pereira, Michael Pereira and John Pereira, all of Fall River and Daniel Pereira of Seekonk, MA; three sisters, Irmina Pacheco and Zelia Pacheco, both of Fall River and Josephine Pimentel of Tiverton, RI; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Richard Pereira.

Her funeral will be held Friday at 8 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 2064 South Main St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Good Shepherd Parish. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Thursday 4 - 8 p.m.
