Maria J. (Melo Correia) Moniz

FALL RIVER…Maria J. (Melo Correia) Moniz, 81, of Fall River passed away May 19, 2021 at Catholic Memorial Home, in Fall River.

She was the loving wife of Jose Moniz.

Born in Ribeira Grande, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Launio Correia Peixinho and Virgilia (Melo) Peixinho.

Prior to retiring, Mrs. Moniz was employed as a Machine Operator at the former Chace Curtain Mill, in Fall River. She was a devoted parishioner of Santo Christo Church, who loved to teach others how to pray the rosary and attended mass as often as she could. She also enjoyed knitting and sewing, in her free time.

Along with her husband, survivors include her daughters: Ana Pacheco, of Westport, and Malinda Moniz, of Fall River; her sons: Alvaro Moniz, Jose Moniz, John Moniz, and Antonio Moniz, all of Fall River; her brother Jose Correia, of Toronto, Canada; her sisters: Teresa Viveiros, Ana Isabel Anjos, Cidalia Camara, Mary Jo Correia, all of Kitchener, Canada, and Filomenia Tavares, of Montreal, Canada; 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at 8 AM from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St. Fall River, MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM at Santo Christo Church, Columbia St. Fall River. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be held Monday from 5 – 7 PM.
