Maria Luzia Raposo

Maria Luzia (Pereira) Raposo, 76, of Broadway, Fall River, a retired garment worker, died Wednesday at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Joao M. Raposo.

Born in Feteiras do Sul, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Henrique G. and Maria G. (Carreiro) Pereira; she was an active member of Santo Christo Parish Community and a member of its Holy Rosary Sodality. Mrs. Raposo worked as a seamstress for 37 years in the local garment industry, retiring in 2000. She enjoyed baking and gardening. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Abatecola (husband Joe) of Canada; two sons, John M. Raposa of Fall River and Paul W. Raposa (wife Kimberly) of Fall River; two brothers, Henry Pereira of Dighton, MA and Jose Pereira of Somerset, MA; five grandchildren, Monica, Meghan, Kyle, Felicia and Kelsey; and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Henri J. Raposa and sister of the late Joao Pereira and Manuel Pereira.

Her funeral will be held Monday at 8 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 215 Columbia St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Santo Christo Church. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Calling hours Sunday 4-7 p.m.
