Maria Lima

Maria (Cambra) Lima, 83, of Tiverton, passed away at her home on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. 

    She was the loving wife of the late William “Bill” Lima, to whom she met in the 6th grade and later married for 61 years. 

    Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Manual Cambra, Jr. and Hortense (Farias) Cambra. 

    Maria was a 1959 graduate of BMC Durfee High School. She went on to work as a Bookkeeper/Accounts Payable Clerk at River Edge Textile Mills and Fall River News early in her career and later spent the majority of her working years at GTE Sylvania in Fall River. During this time, she also supported her husband's machining business. 

    Maria’s life revolved around her family, relatives and friends. She devoted herself to raising her children, finding the utmost joy in nurturing her loved ones. Love and support for her husband and children was at the heart of everything she did. Ultimately, her children's and grandchildren's happiness meant everything to her. She will be forever missed. 

    She is survived by her children William Lima, Jr., of Acushnet, MA, and Joanne Peterson, of Houston, TX; her grandchildren Matthew Lima, Dylan Schaeffer, Andre Lima, Jonathan Lima, and Logan Peterson; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving and close brother John Cambra. 

    The Lima family would like to offer our appreciation to South Coast Hospice Care for the care and support they gave our mother during her long battle with dementia. We would like to give special thanks to some members of South Coast Hospice Care, specifically Brenda Scipac, Kelly Guinn and Patrick Donovan for all of there efforts in ensuring our mother's care and comfort during this very challenging time. 

    A visitation will be held December 2, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:15 PM followed by visitation on December 3, 2024, from 9:00 – 9:30 AM from the Oliveira Funeral Home – South Main St. Chapel, 2064 South Main St. Fall River, MA, followed by a Funeral Service at 10 AM at Holy Ghost Church, Tiverton, RI. Interment will follow at Pocasset Hill Cemetery, Tiverton, RI.
