Maria L. (Cabral) Sousa, 84, of Wooley St., Fall River, a homemaker, died Sunday at St. Anne's Hospital. She was the wife of the late Fernando Sousa.
Born in Sao Pedro Nordestinho, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Manuel Cabral Borges and Deolinda (Cabral) Borges; she lived in Fall River for the past 41 years and was a member of Santo Christo Church.
She is survived by seven daughters, Isabel M. Campos (Husband Antonio) of Fall River, Fatima M. Medeiros (Husband Jose Luis) of Fall River, Graciela E. De Rose (Husband Frank) of Fall River, Sofia Oliveira (Husband Manuel) of Fall River, Judith M. Piedade (Husband Antonio) of Assonet, MA, Maria R. Botelho (Husband Norbert) of Fall River and Olga R. Goncalo (Husband Robert A.) of Fall River; two sons, Jose F. Sousa (Wife Conceicao) of Fall River and Tiago Sousa of St. Michael, Azores; a sister, Celina Dutra of New Bedford, MA; a brother, Antonio Cabral Borges St. Michael, Azores; 26 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Nelia Sousa and the sister of the late Manuel, Jose, Maria and Rosaria.
Her funeral will be held Thursday at 8 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 215 Columbia St., with Liturgy of the Word at 9 a.m. in Santo Christo Church. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Calling hours Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Pro-Burial Mass will be offered Monday in Santo Christo Church at 9 a.m.
