Maria Isabel (Figueira Furtado) Borges

SWANSEA… Maria Isabel (Figueira Furtado) Borges, 74, of Swansea passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her family.

She was the loving wife of the late Tiberio Franco Borges.

Born in Povoacao, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Manuel Raposo Furtado and Rosalina Araujo Figueira

Mrs. Borges was a home maker and a devoted communicant of Santo Christo Parish. For many years, she would sew all of the outfits for the children in the Santo Christo Feast who carried items signifying the crucifixion. She also enjoyed knitting and would knit hats for newborn children to donate to local hospitals. Most of all, she loves spending time with her family.

Survivors include 2 daughters: Ana I. Rodrigues of Swansea, Lucrecia F. Borges of Fall River, 7 Sons: Tiberio M. Borges of Fall River, Jose F. Borges of Taunton, Eusebio Borges of Fall River, Roberto C. Borges of Swansea, Leonardo M. Borges of Somerset, Ricardo J. Borges of Fall River, Michael P. Borges of Dighton, 3 Sisters: Eduarda Moniz of Toronto, Canada, Luisa Serodeo of Povocao, St. Michael, Azores, and Lucia Pimental of Toronto, Canada, 14 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Wednesday, December 9th, at 9:00 AM from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME 215 Columbia Street, Fall River followed bya Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Santo Christo Church, Columbia Street, Fall River. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5 - 8 PM.
