Maria Gilda (Medeiros) Lima, 85, of Fall River, died Thursday at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Joao Correia Lima.
Born in Arrifes, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Eduardo and Lucinda (Cordeiro) Medeiros; she lived in this city for the past 43 years and was a member of Santo Christo Church. Mrs. Lima worked as a trimmer for several years in the local garment industry.
She is survived by two daughters, Maria Eugenia Couto and Mary C. Pereira, both of Fall River; four sons, Joao Correia, Joseph Lima, Eduardo Correia and Floriano Lima, all of Fall River; a sister, Lourdes Medeiros of St. Michael, Azores; two brothers, Eduardo Medeiros of E. Providence, RI and Joao Medeiros of Canada; 5 grandchildren; Diane Perry, Chris Correia, Stephanie Correia-Galvao, Kevin Couto and Leslie Oliveira; 4 great-grandchildren, Tyler & Fallon Perry, Lucas Galvao and Adriana Oliveira; and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Francisco D. Lima and the sister of the late Jose Medeiros.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 8 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 215 Columbia St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Santo Christo Church. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Calling hours Monday 6-8 p.m.
