Maria Deolinda

FALL RIVER… Maria Deolinda, 97, of Fall River, passed away August 7, 2023, at Charlton Memorial Hospital, in Fall River, surrounded by her family.

She was the widow of the late Antonio Farias.

Born in St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Manuel de Sousa and Maria de Estrella Melo.

Maria was a homemaker and parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and cooking for her family. Most of all, she will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who cherished taking care of and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children: Maria Estrella Farias, Durval Farias (wife Albertina), and Gabriella Farias (husband Liberal); ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Carlos Sousa Farias, one sister, and several brothers.

Maria’s funeral will be held Friday, August 11, 2023, at 8 AM from the Oliveira Funeral Home – South Main St Chapel, 2064 South Main St. Fall River, MA 02724, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Bedford St., Fall River. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be held Thursday evening, from 6 – 8 PM.
