Maria A. (Soares Pereira) De Araujo

FALL RIVER… Maria Agatha (Soares Pereira) De Araujo, 92, passed away December 11, 2021, at St. Anne’s Hospital, in Fall River.

She was the widow of the late Felicio De Araujo, Jr.

Born in Fenais Da Ajuda, Sao Miguel, Azores. She was a daughter of the late Antonio Pereira Branco and Georgina Soares Macede.

Prior to retiring, Mrs. De Araujo had been employed as a seamstress for many years and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. She was a parishioner of the former Our Lady of Angles Church for many years and Santo Christo Church. A devout Catholic, Maria loved praying, watching Mass on TV, and saying the rosary several times per day.

She is survived by her son: Mario P. Branco (wife Colleen), of Dacula, GA; her sisters: Isabel Mota (husband Manuel), of Kitchener, Canada, and Maria do Carmo Caloura (late husband Manuel), of Ajax, Canada; her grandchildren: Ryan, Taryn, and Jared; great grandchildren: Adrian, Ava, and Louisa; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.

Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Friday, December 17, 2021, at 9 AM from the Oliveira Funeral Home – Columbia St Chapel, 215 Columbia St., Fall River, MA 02721, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Santo Christo Church, Columbia St., Fall River. Interment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be held Thursday, from 5 – 8 PM.
