FALL RIVER - Maria L. (Melo) DeAguiar, 89, of Fall River, a retired garment worker, died Tuesday, January 31st at Southpointe Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Care Center. She was the wife of the late Francisco DeAguiar.
Born in Santa Barbara, Sao Antonio alem Capelas, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Manuel Carvalho Melo and Ana (Soares-Farias) Melo; she emigrated to this country in the early 1971. Mrs. DeAguiar worked as a machine operator in the local garment industry. She was a member of Santo Christo Church.
She is survived by a sister, Conceicao Borges of Fall River; three brothers, Agostinho F. Melo and Mariano Melo, both of Fall River and Manuel Melo of Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Jeremias Melo.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, February 4th at 7:30 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia Street, Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 8:30 a.m. in Santo Christo Church, Columbia Street, Fall River. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery, Stafford Road, Fall River. Calling hours Friday 5-7 p.m.
