Maria M. (Tavares) Da Luz

FALL RIVER…Maria M. (Tavares) Da Luz, 99, of Fall River passed away Sunday, October 11, 2020 at St. Anne’s Hospital.

She was the loving wife of the late Joao B. Da Luz.

Born in Furnas, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Manuel and Essencia (Moniz) Tavares.

Mrs. Da Luz was a devout catholic and communicant of Santo Christo Parish, Fall River.

Survivors include her sons: Jose L. Da Luz of Somerset, John Borges of Westport and Amos Da Luz of North Kingstown, RI; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Carlos A. Da Luz and sister of the late Maria Conceicao Da Silva, Encarnacao Pimenta, Angelina Bento and John Tavares.

Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Friday, October 16, 2020 at 9 AM from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St. Fall River, MA 02721 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Santo Christo Parish, Columbia St. Fall River. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be held Thursday, October 15, 2020 from 5 – 8 PM.
