Maria (Do Ceu Perfeito) Da Fonseca

FALL RIVER… Maria (Do Ceu Perfeito) Da Fonseca, 87, of Fall River passed away May 7, 2022, at Fall River Healthcare, surrounded by her family.

She was the loving wife of the late Joao Da Fonseca.

Born in Macal do Chao, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Cezar Braganca and Maria Augusta.

Maria worked at the former Frank Nunes Shoe Co., before retiring. She was a parishioner of Santo Christo Parish and enjoyed dancing, singing, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughters Ana Machado (companion Alan Lovestad, late husband George), and Isaura Da Fonseca, both of Fall River; her sons James Da Fonseca (wife Laura), of Swansea, and Bart Da Fonseca (wife Karen), of Fall River; her daughter-in-law Brenda Fonseca (wife of the late Joseph Fonseca); her sister Isaura Correia, of Taunton; her brothers Eugenio Braganca and Manuel Braganca, of Taunton; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Joseph Fonseca and sister of the late Antonio Augusto.

The family would also like to thank the High 3 Floor staff at Fall River Healthcare, for the care they provided to Maria.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday, May 11, at 9:00 AM, from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., Fall River, MA 02721 followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM at Santo Christo Church, Columbia St., Fall River. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be held Tuesday night, from 7 – 9 PM.
