Maria Fatima Borges

Maria Fatima (Vieira) Borges, 73, of Fall River, passed away Sunday, January 5th, 2025, at home, surrounded by her family.

    She was the loving wife of Antonio Borges.

    Born in Rabo de Peixe, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Jose Alvaro Vieira and Gloria Andrade.

    Before retiring, Maria worked for several years at the former Quaker Fabrics. She also worked prior as a nurse in St. Michael. 

    Maria was a devoted parishioner of Espirito Santo Church, where her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she faithfully said the rosary each day. She found joy in simple pleasures, such as completing word search puzzles, cooking meals for her family, and crocheting beautiful creations. However, her greatest joy was spending time with her beloved grandchildren, whom she cherished deeply. 

    Along with her husband, Maria is survived by her children Ana Cordeiro, Frank Borges, and Jeff Borges (wife Berta); her grandchildren Tiffany Borges, Victoria Borges, Nathan Cordeiro, and Mikayla Cordeiro; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.

    A visitation will be held Friday, January 10, 2025, from 8 – 9:30 AM from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Espirito Santo Church, Alden St., Fall River. Interment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
