Maria Amaral

Maria da Paz (Cro) Amaral, 86, of Fall River passed away July 19, 2024 at Charlton Memorial Hospital, in Fall River, surrounded by her family.

    She was the widow of the late Jose P. Amaral.

    Born in Ponta Garca, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Alvarino Cro and Estrelinha (Medeiros) Cro.

    Prior to retiring, Maria worked as an assembler at American Tourister for several years. She was a parishioner of Santo Christo Church and enjoyed knitting, playing cards, and being apart of family events, but most of all, she cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

    Survivors include her children Maria Rego (Armindo), Ana Pereira (Silverio), Jose C. Amaral (Rose Bettencourt), and Emanuel Amaral (Kelli Dasilva); her grandchildren Nancy Arruda, Shawn Rego, Pamela Cordeiro, Eric Pereira, Cory Amaral, Dante Melo, Ryan Amaral, Kendra Amaral, and Makaela Amaral; 8 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by several siblings.

    Her funeral will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at 9 AM from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Santo Christo Church, Columbia St., Fall River. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 6 – 8 PM.
