Maria Alda Rodrigues

Maria Alda (Gomes) Rodrigues, 88, of Fall River, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2025 at St. Anne’s Hospital, surrounded by her family.

    She was the loving wife of the late Jose Rodrigues.

    Born in St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Manuel Gomes and Maria do Carmo Gomes.

    Maria was a devoted homemaker who cherished the role of caring for her family. As a parishioner of Santo Christo Church, her faith was at the center of her life, and she made it a tradition to watch her Portuguese TV Mass every Sunday, finding comfort and strength in her spiritual connection. Maria’s greatest joy came from spending time with her loved ones, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose laughter and love filled her heart. Her nurturing spirit and deep devotion to family and faith will always be remembered.

    Maria is survived by her children, Lucia Bento, Maria Vieira, Carlos Rodrigues, and Luis Rodrigues; 2 brothers, 3 sisters, 15 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Maria Ferreira and was a sister of 2 siblings who predeceased her.

    A visitation will be held Tuesday evening April 8, 2025, from 5 – 8 PM at the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., Fall River, MA.

    Her funeral will follow the next day Wednesday, April 9, at 8 AM at the Oliveira Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM at Santo Christo Church. Interment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River, MA.
