Margarida da Luz Andre

Margarida (Sousa) da Luz Andre, 90, of Fall River, a beloved mother, grandmother & great-grandmother, passed away Friday, Sept. 18th at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was the wife of the late Antonio Borges da Luz Andre.
Born in Furnas, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Jose Machado Sousa and Maria dos Anjos (Pacheco) Sousa; she emigrated to this country in 1967. She was devoted to her family, so devote that she left her job in the garment industry to help raise not only her grandchildren but others as well. A selfless and generous woman, she brought joy to everyone in her life. She had a smile that would light up the room. She enjoyed going on long drives, family gatherings, tending to her flower beds and vegetable gardening.
She was a parishioner of Santo Christo Parish.
She leaves a beloved daughter, Fernanda Cruz (husband Antonio) of Fall River; a beloved son, Antonio da Luz (wife Leonor) of Fall River; two sisters, Ana Mendonca of Fall River and Conceicao Sousa of Riverside, RI; five grandchildren, Peter, Suzette, Roger, Helder and Deborah; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral will be held Tuesday at 8 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Santo Christo Church. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Monday 5-9 p.m.
