Margaret Ann (Dias) Lamothe, 81, of Westport, passed away Saturday, January 4nd, 2025, at Charlton Memorial Hospital.
She was the loving wife of Alfred R. Lamothe.
Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Manuel Dias and Leticia (Sousa) Dias.
Margaret dedicated many years of her life to her work at the former Yates Rubber Factory, before retiring. In her personal life, she was an avid reader, always eager to explore new stories and ideas. She loved feeding her family, especially their favorites, Shrimp Mozambique and Grandma's "surprise". She enjoyed her traveling days to the Cape with her husband, and long trips with her daughter. However, her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, moments she cherished deeply. She held such delight in long afternoons talking life in her living room with them. Margaret's love for her family defined the warmth and kindness she shared with all who knew her.
Along with her husband, Margaret is survived by her children Richard Lamothe (wife Ruth), Carleen Desrochers (husband Carl), and Wayne Lamothe; her brothers John Dias, Wallace Dias, and Raymond Dias; her grandchildren Ryan Desrochers (partner Irene), Morgan Eliason (husband Matthew), Cassey Monte (husband Nicholas), Bryan Lamothe, Lindsey Lamothe, and Kayleigh Lamothe; 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Sunday evening, January 12, from 5 - 8 PM at the Oliveira Funeral Home – South Main St. Chapel, 2064 South Main St., Fall River.
Her funeral will follow the next day, January 13, at 9:00 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Holy Trinity Church, Stafford Rd, Fall River. Interment will follow at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Margaret’s name to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
