Manuel Vieira

Manuel Vieira, 88, of Ash Street, Fall River, died Wednesday at St. Anne's Hospital. He was the husband of the late Maria Jose (Teixeira) Vieira.

Born in Povoacao, St. Michael, Azores, a son of the late Manuel Baginha Vieira and Emilia (da Ponte) Vieira, he resided in Fall River for the past 43 years.

Mr. Vieira worked as a machine operator for Duro Print for 15 years, later he worked as a maintenance man for 3 years at a computer manufacturing company in Bridgewater.

He was a member of Santo Christo Church and also served as a collector for the parish.

He is survived by a son, George Manuel Teixeira Vieira of Fall River and a daughter, Donna M. Almeida of Fall River, 2 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Jose Ferreira Vieira and Antonio da Ponte Vieira.

His funeral will be held on Saturday at 7:30 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home 215 Columbia Street followed by a Funeral Mass at 8:30 a.m. in Santo Christo Church. Entombment in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum. Calling hours Friday 2 - 4 & 7-9 p.m.
