Manuel Mello, Jr., of Fall River passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at the age of 63. He was born on January 3, 1950 in Fall River, MA and was the son of Eugenia (Ferreira) Mello and the late Manuel C. Mello.
Manuel was the devoted husband of Irene A. (Viveiros) Mello; they had celebrated 42 years of marriage this past July 17.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his 2 sons, David Mello of Fall River, MA and his children Sabrina and Breauna; and Matthew Mello of Richmond, VA.
Manuel is survived by a sister Cristina Ajemian, her husband Raymond of Bridgewater and their children Peter and Ani; his brother Lauriano (Larry), his wife Kelly of Tiverton, RI and their daughter Leandra.
He received his associate degree in wood utilization at U Mass Stockbridge at Amherst. Manuel was a member of the Rhode Island Carpenters Union Local 94 for over 20 years and was employed by Hart Engineering as a carpentry foreman.
One of Manuel's passions in life was scouting. He was actively involved in Scouting Troop 27 of Fall River, MA for almost 30 years. He served as a Webelos Scoutmaster for Pack 27 and Campmaster at Myles Standish State Forest.
Manuel's family was much comforted by the support and care of the dedicated staff of Life Care Centers of Raynham during his final illness.
His funeral will be held on Monday at 9 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home 2064 South Main St., followed by a Funeral Service at 10 a.m. in the Baptist Temple 700 North Eastern Ave. Fall River. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Calling hours Sunday 5 - 9 p.m.
