Manuel J. Pereira

Manuel Jose Pereira, of Swansea, formerly of Fall River, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Charlton Memorial Hospital, unexpectedly. 

    He was the loving husband of Ann M. (Machado) Pereira, to whom he had been married to for 51 years. 

    Born in Mosteiros, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Manuel Pereira and Diamantina Fernandes. 

    Prior to retiring, Manny owned Manuel Pereira & Sons Home Improvement, where he worked with his two sons, for a majority of his career. He also worked prior, at the former Arkwright Finishing, for several years. 

    Manny was a simple man. He loved being outdoors and spent most of his free time tending to his plants and gardens. He enjoyed cooking and wine making with the fruits and vegetables he was able to produce. Manny cherished his family, most of all his grandchildren, for whom he lived for. Manny loved spending time with them on family vacations and was always there to cheer them on at all their sporting events and activities. He instilled in them his love of the outdoors, the value of hard work, the virtue of patience, and the importance of family. 

    Along with his wife, Manny is survived by his daughter Jessica Wilkerson (husband Joseph); his sisters Isabel Duarte (husband the late Gilbert) and Helena Pereira; his grandsons Jason William Wilkerson and Jack Paul Wilkerson; several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Paul and Jason Pereira and the brother of the late Arsenio Pereira. 

    A visitation will be held Monday, December 30th, 2024, starting at 9:00 AM at the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St. Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at Santo Christo Church, Columbia St., Fall River. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
