Manuel F. Medeiros, 96, formerly of Stafford Rd., Fall River, a retired meat supervisor, died Monday at Grace Barker Nursing Home in Warren. He was the husband of the late Emilia "Emily" (Oliveira) Medeiros.
Born in Fall River, MA, he was a son of the late Manuel and Mary (Rodrigues) Medeiros; he lived most of his life in Fall River. Mr. Medeiros was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during WW II. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 464 in Fall River. He worked at Stop and Shop as a meat manager for 11 years, later was employed for 10 years as a meat supervisor by Quonset Point, retiring in 1983 from the Newport Naval Base after 20 years of employment.
He is survived by a son, Ronald Medeiros (wife Cheryl) of Swansea; a brother, Dennis Medeiros of Westport; two grandchildren, Stephanie Sullivan and Glenn David Medeiros; three great-grandchildren, Patrick Sullivan, Timothy Sullivan and Jacob Medeiros; and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Jeffrey Medeiros; the brother of the late John Medeiros, Angelina "Angie" Matthews, Alma Isadore, Mary Levitre, Jules and Joseph Medeiros; the grandfather of the late Mark Medeiros.
His funeral will be held Friday at 9:45 a.m. from OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 2064 South Main St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Dominic Church. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Visitation morning of funeral from 9:15-10:15 a.m.
