Manuel C. Da Costa, 79, of Tiverton, died Monday at St. Anne's Hospital. He was the husband of 58 years to Maria A. (Costa) Da Costa.
Born in Furnas, St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Antonio Estrela and Olivia Cabral Costa; he emigrated to the United States in 1971.
Mr. Da Costa worked as a machine operator for the former Quaker Fabric for many years.
He was a member of Holy Ghost Church. He enjoyed gardening
Besides his wife, he is survived by 7 children, Jose Lima of Fall River, Antonio Costa of Pawtucket, Lucy Vidinha, Eddy Costa and Luis Costa of Tiverton, Lou Couto of Fall River and Gerald Costa of North Providence; 4 brothers, Hermenio Costa and Carlos Costa, both of Tiverton, Armando Costa of Florida and Luis Costa of New Bedford; 23 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Carlos Costa and was predeceased by 5 siblings.
His funeral will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Ghost Church. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Thursday 5 - 9 p.m.
