Manuel M. Alves

FALL RIVER... Manuel M. Alves, 80, of Fall River passed away September 20, 2018 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.
He was the husband of Maria Fatima (Machado) Alves to whom he had been married for 40 years.
Born in Lisbon, Portugal, he was a son of the late Assuncao Alves and Joseph Costa.
Mr. Alves was a communicant of Santo Christo Church where he was active in church activities as well as their St. Vincent de Paul Society. For almost 50 years he owned and operated A & M Driving School in Fall River and worked as an Insurance and Travel Agent for 35 years, owning Alves Travel Agency as well. He enjoyed working.
Along with his wife, survivors include his children: Steven Alves and Nancy Alves, both of Fall River; his sisters: Natalie Goncalves of Somerset and Prazeres Goncalves of Fall River; his grandchildren: Selena, Jasmin, Anthony and Leah; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 6 brothers and sisters.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 8 AM from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St. Fall River, MA 02721 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM at Santo Christo Church, Columbia St. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Calling Hours will be held Monday from 4 - 8 PM.
