Louis R. Viveiros, Jr., 84, of Fall River, died Sunday at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Alice (Swass) Viveiros.
Born in Bristol, RI, he was a son of the late Louis R. Viveiros and Maria da Gloria (Bragantine) Viveiros; most of his life was spent in this city; spending his earlier years in Bristol. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during WW II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Woodrow L. Silvia Post 5392 in Tiverton.
Mr. Viveiros worked as a shipper for over 50 years at Duro Finishing, retiring at the age of 70. He was a member of the American Textile Workers of America.
He was a parishioner of the former Our Lady of Angels Church, now Good Shepherd Parish.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Brian L. Viveiros (Wife Janet) of Rumford, RI; a sister, Loretta Bouchard of Tiverton, RI; a brother, Ferdinand "Bull" Viveiros of Fall River; three grandchildren, Brian Viveiros, Katherine Viveiros and Jack Hanna; a great-granddaughter, Eliana; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late David Viveiros, Norman Viveiros, Edmond Viveiros and Elsie Sousa.
His Funeral will be held Friday at 8 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 South Main St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Good Shepherd Parish. Interment with military honors in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling Thursday 5-9 p.m.
