Lorraine DaPonte

September 13, 1932 — December 29, 2014

Lorraine (Almas) DaPonte, 82, of Fall River passed away surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, Dec. 29th 2014. Born in Fall River, Mass., she was the wife of the late Edward DaPonte. She was the daughter of the late Manuel and Elvira (Franco) Almas.

Lorraine was very talented. She loved painting and sketching, making many pictures for her family throughout the years. She enjoyed crafts, knitting and crocheting, donating many of her handmade items to different charities. In her earlier years she loved playing the piano. Her favorite song to play was the Old Rugged Cross. She was also passionate about the Grandparents raising Grandchildren Organization in the 90's.

Survivors include daughters Cheryl Paquette of Fall River, Corinne DiNucci of New Bedford and Sandra Souza and her husband Ernest of Fall River. Grandchildren Nicholas, Tyler and the late Jason Paquette. and Nathan and Amber DiNucci. Great-grandchildren Adrianna DiNucci and Chloe Paquette. Brother Alfred Almas of Somerset, Mass. and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Ernest and George Almas.

Her funeral will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 2064 South Main St., followed by a Funeral Service at 10 a.m. in Third Baptist Church, Stafford Rd. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery. Calling hours Sunday 4-8 p.m. Donations in her memory may be made to help fund Pancreatic Cancer Research through the Lustgarten Foundation [www.lustgarten.org].
