Lillian Bento

Lillian (Silvia) Bento, passed away at the age of 87 peacefully at home on March 30th surrounded by her beloved and devoted nephew, Stephen W. Amaral and her devoted and loving caretakers Julia Froment, Tracey and Robin Levesque. She was the wife of the late Edward M. Bento.

Born in Tiverton, RI, she was a daughter of the late Joseph A. and Mary (Ferreira) Silvia, she was a lifelong resident of Tiverton and a communicant of Holy Ghost Church.

Mrs. Bento worked as a sewing machine operator for many years in the local garment industry, retiring in 1980. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, now U.N.I.T.E.

She is survived by two sisters, Evelyn Costa of Fall River and Josephine Durfee of Tiverton; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Joseph J. Silvia, Antone Silvia, Anna Aubin, Margaret Botelho, Rose Mello, Mary Simpson, Adeline Silvia and Palmira Rego.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 9 a.m. in Holy Ghost Church, Judson St., Tiverton. Interment in Pocasset Hill Cemetery, Tiverton. Calling hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Southcoast Hospice & Visiting Nurses, 200 Mill Rd., Suite 120, Fairhaven, MA 02719.
