Kenneth W. Durfee

May 5, 1922 — January 22, 2013

Kenneth W. Durfee, 90, of Tiverton, passed away Tuesday at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Helen (Kimball) Durfee.

Born in Fall River, MA, a son of the late William and Rose (Marr) Durfee, he was a graduate of Samuel Watson School and B.M.C. Durfee High School.

A WWII veteran from 1940 - 1945 serving with the 241st Coast Artillery in Boston Harbor searchlight Battery N and Battery A Coast Artillery in defense of the Panama Canal. After the war he served in the Massachusetts National Guards and retired Sgt. First Class after 34 years of service.

Mr. Durfee had worked at the Naval Air Station at Quonset Point as and aircraft mechanic. He later worked for the Tiverton Post Office as a letter carrier for 30 years until his retirement.

He was a parishioner of St. Madeleine Sophie Church.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Barbara Chase (Husband Tim) of Tiverton and Carol Rebello (Companion Dave) of New Bedford; 2 sons, Kenneth J. Durfee (Wife Sharon) of Tiverton, Ronald W. Durfee (Wife Sandy) of Hodgenville, KY; 7 Grandchildren, 8 Great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Keith W. Durfee and brother of the late Eleanor Maines, Dorothy Devine, Mildred Durfee, Everett Durfee, William Durfee, Estelle Walker and Russell Durfee.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Mass on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Theresa Church, Stafford Road Tiverton. Interment is private. Calling hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Amedisys Beacon Hospice 1 Catamore Blvd. East Providence, RI 02914. Arrangements are by the OLIVEIRA FUNERALHOME 2064 SOUTH MAIN ST.
