Joseph S. "Joe Val" Valentino, 87, of Tiverton, RI, a retired oil burner technician, died Monday Sept. 7th at home. He was the husband of Gertrude I. (Vieira) Valentino.
Born in Fall River, MA, he was a son of the late Antone and Margaret (Aguiar) Valentino; he lived most of his life in Tiverton and was a communicant of St. Christopher's Church. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, serving during WW II. He worked for Humphrey Oil Co and Hood Milk.
Mr. Valentino was a devoted family man and enjoyed socializing. He loved to golf and was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fr. J. Boehr Council in Tiverton.

Besides his wife of 63 years, he is survived by two daughters, Catherine Porada (husband Stanley) of Tiverton and Helen Reilly (husband Michael) of Tiverton; a son, Steven Valentino (wife Ann Marie) of Tiverton; a sister-in-law, Alice Belcher; a brother-in-law, Lawrence Vieira (wife Dolores); seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Thomas Valentino, brother of the late Margaret Amaral and Manuel Valentino; and brother-in-law of the late Daniel Vieira.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Christopher's Church. Interment in Pocasset Hill Cemetery. Visitation morning of funeral from 9-10 a.m. at the church. Arrangements are by the Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 South Main Street.
