Joseph Tavares

EDGEWATER, FL… Joseph Tavares (Joe), 57, died Friday, March 8th, 2019 at Advent Health Hospital in New Smyrna Beach, FL. He was surrounded by family and went peacefully into the arms of our Savior Jesus Christ to become the free spirit he yearned to be.
Born in Fall River, MA, Joe moved to Florida in 1987. He was a hard worker who was a skilled handyman and spent a lot of time helping his family. He taught his daughters the craft of renovations whenever the opportunity arose. He spent many years as a self-employed entrepreneur in numerous business adventures. He was very creative, artistic and enjoyed working in his yard and spending time outside.
Joseph loved his family and always wanted the best for them. He is predeceased by his father, Antonio Tavares Jr and brother Antonio M. Tavares. He is survived by his mother, Mary P. Tavares; 2 daughters: Rosalie (Bill) and Cindy (Jimmy); 5 grandchildren: Ethan, Lucy, Makayla, Leo and Ashley; sister Natalie Araujo (Joe) and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Monday, March 18, 2019 at 8 AM from Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St. Fall River, MA 02721 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM at Santo Christo Church, Columbia St. Fall River. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 5 – 8 PM.
