Joseph Arruda, Jr.

Joseph Arruda, Jr., 75, of Fall River, passed away Friday, December 22th, 2023, at St. Anne’s Hospital, in Fall River.

He was the loving husband of Claire (St. Ours) Arruda.

Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Joseph Arruda, Sr. and Lucille (Rego) Arruda.

Prior to retiring, Joseph was the Director of the Fall River Water Department, where he had been employed for 36 years, and was a United States Army Veteran and Purple Heart recipient from the Vietnam War. He was also a member of the Tiverton VFW and Fall River Rod and Gun Club. Joseph enjoyed fishing, having his coffee, going to the shooting range, and, most of all, spending time with his family.

Along with his wife, he is survived by his daughters Kim Ferreira (husband Craig), Sammi Hipolito (husband Ron), Kelly Messier (husband Mike), and Allison Arruda; his sister Maureen Force (husband Robert); his grandchildren Devin Ferreira, Mackenzie Ferreira, and Amanda Hipolito; several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Jodi Arruda.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Whites of Westport at 12 PM noon. Please RSVP to the celebration of life by calling 774-526-1985.

His burial will be private.
