Joseph Almeida, Jr.

FALL RIVER – Joseph Almeida, Jr., 79, of Tiverton, RI, died Tuesday, May 22nd. at Charlton Memorial Hospital He was the husband of A. Shirley (Aguiar) Almeida.
Born in St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Joseph Almeida, Sr. and Laurentina (Dias) Almeida; he lived in Tiverton for most of his life. Mr. Almeida was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fr. J. Boehr Council in Tiverton. He was an avid Red Sox fan. He worked for many years as a dyer at the ICI Chemicals.
Besides his wife of 58 years, he is survived by two sons, Jason J. Almeida and his wife Stephanie of Dighton, MA and Brian K. Almeida and his wife Wendy of Tiverton, RI; a sister, Louise Bettencourt of Somerset, MA; two brothers, Manuel Almeida and Fernando Almeida, both of Somerset, MA; eight grandchildren, Brian Jr., Zakary, Stone, Abbey, Ryleigh, Ethan, Aiden and Brooke; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Mary Lou Pavao.
His funeral will be held Saturday, May 26th at 8 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 South Main St., Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Holy Ghost Church, Judson St., Tiverton. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery, Stafford Rd., Fall River. Calling hours Friday 4-8 p.m.
