Jose B. Matos, 82, of Hemlock St., Westport, MA and 69 Grant St., Fall River, a retired machine operator, died Thursday at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Thelma (Souza) Matos.
Born in Pardilho, Portugal, he vas a son of the late Henrique and Mariana (Santos) De Matos; he lived most of his life in Fall River and was a member of Santo Christo Church. Mr. Matos worked for many years at Plymouth Rubber in Canton.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Diane Riessen of Warwick, RI; two sisters, Mary Lou Aldeman of RI and Bernadette Horowitz of Fall River; three brothers, Julio Matos of Somerset, Henrique Matos of Portugal and Albano Matos of Maine; two grandchildren, Jake and Jenna Riessen; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Thursday at 8 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 215 Columbia St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Santo Christo Church. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Calling hours Wednesday 4-8 p.m
