Jose R. Botelho, 79, of 847 Second St., Fall River, a retired gardener, died Wednesday at home. He was the loving husband of Maria L. (Medeiros) Botelho.
Born in Capelas, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Jose R. and Cristina (Alves) Botelho; he lived in this country for the past 41 years and was a member of Santo Christo Church. He was a band member for many years in Capelas. He enjoyed yard work and household chores. He followed Sporting soccer in Portugal. He was a loving grandfather and great-grandfather.
Mr. Botelho worked for many years at the Rhode Island Nursery. He previously worked at the Foxboro Co. in the maintenance dept.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two loving daughters, Isabel Botelho of Fall River and Sandra Pinto (husband Antone) of Fall River; four loving sons, Jose R. Botelho (wife Penny) of Fall River, John Botelho (wife Lorana) of Dartmouth, Antero Botelho and Duarte Botelho, both of Fall River; two brothers, Manuel Botelho of St. Michael, Azores and Tomas Botelho of CT; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Monday at 8 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 215 Columbia St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Santo Christo Church.. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Calling hours Sunday 4-8 p.m. www.oliveirafuneralhomes.com
