Jose Borges

FALL RIVER… Jose Borges, 93, of Fall River died Thursday, November 23, 2017. He died at Southpointe Skilled Care and Rehabilitation Center in Fall River.
He was the widow of Emily (Raposa) Borges.
He was born in Lombinha da Maia, St. Michael, Azores a son of the late Adelino and Maria dosAnjos (Coute) Borges and had been a resident of Fall River since 1947.
He was a communicant of Santo Christo Church, Columbia Street where he was very active as a member of the Holy Name Society, St. Vincent dePaul Society, a 50 year member of the choir and as a Eucharistic Minister for both the church and St. Anne's Hospital.
Mr. Borges was a housekeeper at St. Anne's Hospital retiring in 1989. Prior to that he worked for the former Ann and Dale Cookie as a cleaner.
Mr. Borges was loved by all. Survivors include a brother Tiogo Borges of Kingston, Canada, a niece/daughter Deborah Mota and her husband Augusto, a nephew/grandson Jeffrey Mota, several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Manuel, Dionisio, Osario, Adelino, Carlos and Ilidio Borges, and the late Zoraida Sousa.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 8 AM from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 215 Columbia Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM at Santo Christo Church, Columbia Street, Fall River. Calling hours will be Monday 4 - 8 PM. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Stafford Rd., Fall River.
