Jose Aguiar

Jose O. Aguiar, 82, of Fall River, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025, peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family.

    He was the loving husband of Maria (Camara) Aguiar.

    Born in Santo Antonio, Alem Capelas, St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Antonio Oliveira and Maria dos Anjos Oliveira.

    Jose had a fulfilling career, working at Portsmouth Abbey before retiring and also contributing to the Fall River Sports Club. Outside of work, he was deeply involved in his community and passions. He played bass for the Espirito Santo Church Band, sharing his love for music with others. Jose was also an avid gardener, tending to a beautiful garden that included a vineyard and apple trees. Fishing brought him peace and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with his grandkids, creating lasting memories with those he loved most.

    Along with his wife, survivors include his daughter Jennifer Ferreira (husband Richard); his grandchildren Julie, Matthew, and Aaron; his sister Fatima Velo; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Mark Aguiar and his siblings Norvita Pereira and Herman Aguiar.

    A visitation will be held Monday, March 31, from 8:30 to 9:30 AM from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM at Holy Name Church, Hanover St, Fall River. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Fall River.
