Jorgina C. (Sardinha) Carvalho

FALL RIVER… Jorgina C. (Sardinha) Carvalho, 78, of Fall River passed away January 11, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital, in New Bedford.

She was the widow of the late Jose Viveiros Carvalho.

Born in Candelaria, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Jose Sardinha and Hermina (Isador) Sardinha.

Prior to retiring, Jorgina was employed as a weaver at the former Quaker Fabric, in Fall River. She was a parishioner of Santo Christo Church and enjoyed shopping, sewing, gardening, and, most of all, spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children: Rosie Marques (husband Silvio), of Fall River, Ana Miguel (husband Arnold), of Westport, Maria J. Paiva (husband Arthur), of Westport, Antonio Carvalho (wife Kristina), of Tiverton, and Joseph Carvalho, Jr. (wife Cathy), of Fall River; her sister Melly Rapoza; her grandchildren: Steve Marques, Carline Monte (husband Mike), Christine Sousa (husband Kyle), Tracey Miguel, Tabitha Mikolazyk (husband Cory), Amanda Carlozzi (husband Dino), Timothy Miguel (wife Jessica), Lucas Carvalho, and Lily Carvalho; her great grandchildren: Skylar Rose Monte and Lincoln Sousa; her beloved dog Taz; several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Joao Inacio, Flavia Viveiros, and Louise Fonseca.

Her funeral will be held Thursday, January 19, at 9:00 AM, from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at Santo Christo Church, Columbia St., Fall River. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be held Wednesday night, from 5 – 8 PM.
